TOURS

What you need to know

The Scottish Highlands

4x4 Tours Scotland offer off road tours in truly wild environments

Our tours will take you many miles from civilisation

Don't expect mobile phone signals, wifi or a nice little tea room.

Vehicles need to be in very good repair, we suggest that you have your

vehicles serviced and faults rectified before heading out on our tours.

Low profile and speed bias tyres are not suitable on our tours,

winter trips require an all terrain tyre and a full size spare wheel and tyre.

That little can of goo and pump

will not get you 20+ miles back along a mountain track!

We will do all we can to assist in the event of a breakdown or puncture

our guides have a good level of basic mechanics and carry

adequate tools for minor repairs, but if a repair can't be carried out on the

route, we will recover the vehicle to the roadside, where you will require

to hold breakdown cover and recovery assistance.

Wild camping tours will require you to bring all of your own equipment,

cooking facilities and adequate food for you and your passengers.

Tents or roof tents, good quality sleeping bags, 3-4 season.

In the summer you will need midge nets and insect repellent

and in the winter you will need clothing and sleeping gear

that will be able to cope with temperatures, down to -25c

Its Scotland, so wet weather gear is an all year requirement.

We carry communication equipment incase of an emergency

and all of our route plans are logged and monitored.

We are an approved trainer for

The Scottish Mountain Rescue Association.

Our tours use existing tracks and mountain passes, they are rough,

rocky and in most cases very wet, river crossings will only be

considered if conditions allow and the vehicles in the group

are adequately prepared.

We do not leave the marked track, we have a duty of care to the land

and the land owner and will always follow a pre agreed route.

If you want serious mud plugging, then you are on the wrong site.

We allow two half days to explore or shop on your own, our guides

will be available to advise on additional routes or attractions.

Lunches will be at either local cafe's or a packed lunch on the tour,

Lunch and evening drink costs are not included in the tour.

Terrain

We strongly advise that you check with your motor insurer, that

you are covered for off road driving, while we tend to use

existing tracks and passes, some of theses can be hazardous if

not driven with care, motor recovery and repair cover is also highly recommended.
